LECTURE REFLECTION - 30 NOVEMBER 2015

Assalamualaikum and a very good day,

Today, we learn about the new trend in education research. Dr. Dayana uploaded the research conducted by UTM lecturers. There three journals for us to read. First is "A Predictive Model to Evaluate Students Cognitive Engagement in Online Learning".  Second journal is "Pattern of reflection in learning Authoring System through blogging". Last journal is "Student types of online interaction through Facebook discussion".

We been asked to search the journal about the new direction of education research. I been search the journal about "Mediating sociality: the use of iPod Touch devices in the classrooms of students with autism in Canada" by Rhonda McEwen.

"This study explores the roles that lower-cost, handheld touch technologies might play in the communication functions of children diagnosed on the autism spectrum. It reports on a case study of the use of Apple iPod Touch mobile digital devices in a public elementary school in downtown Toronto, Canada. Drawing from Vygotskian sociocultural theory researchers examined the consequences of handheld touch technologies on the communication and sociality of children with communicative disorders, with a primary emphasis on nonverbal autistic children. In the period between January 2010 and June 2010, iPod Touch devices were introduced into six elementary classrooms. While there were gains in communication for all participants, ranging from mild to significant, nine of the 12 students for whom we collected detailed data demonstrated statistically significant improvement in communication skills. Observations are made about the heightened levels of motivation, increased attention spans, and increased social interaction that students with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) exhibited when using these devices. Future research should explore the connection of touch-sensory inputs on the communication development of children with ASDs."

After discuss about the new education research, my lecturer asked us to choose the evaluation tools. There are three evaluation tools such as interview, questionairre and checklist. Me and my partner suggest to do a checklist and interview. The evaluation involve two teacher and two pupils. We hope we can get the positive response after the evaluation made. Thank you.

LECTURE REFLECTION ON 2 NOVEMBER 2015

Assalamualaikum and good day.

For this lecture class, me and group partner will present the slide proposal about our ILE project. For this project, we focus on solving the problem among year 3 pupils on identify the time based on the analog clock and drawing the clock hands.

1. Issue of existing practice
-  Chalk and talk
-  Refer to textbook
- Question the pupils
- Using real clock
- Discussion

2. Suggestion for problem
-  Learning based on constructivist theory
-  Using ICT tools
- Integrated the tools of learning

3. Theory, Strategy, Approach
- Theory - Constructivist theory
- Strategy -Student centered learning
- Approach - Game based learning

4. Principle of Game Based Learning
- Intrinsic motivation : Play is by and large voluntary and self-driven. Learning throuh intense enjoyment and fun.
- Authenticity : contextual, goal oriented instead of abstract learning.
- Self-reliance and autonomy : Passion and interests that lead to a will to specialise.
- Experiental learning : learning by doing.
