LECTURE REFLECTION - 30 NOVEMBER 2015
Assalamualaikum and a very good day,
Today, we learn about the new trend in education research. Dr. Dayana uploaded the research conducted by UTM lecturers. There three journals for us to read. First is "A Predictive Model to Evaluate Students Cognitive Engagement in Online Learning". Second journal is "Pattern of reflection in learning Authoring System through blogging". Last journal is "Student types of online interaction through Facebook discussion".
We been asked to search the journal about the new direction of education research. I been search the journal about "Mediating sociality: the use of iPod Touch devices in the classrooms of students with autism in Canada" by Rhonda McEwen.
"This study explores the roles that lower-cost, handheld touch technologies might play in the communication functions of children diagnosed on the autism spectrum. It reports on a case study of the use of Apple iPod Touch mobile digital devices in a public elementary school in downtown Toronto, Canada. Drawing from Vygotskian sociocultural theory researchers examined the consequences of handheld touch technologies on the communication and sociality of children with communicative disorders, with a primary emphasis on nonverbal autistic children. In the period between January 2010 and June 2010, iPod Touch devices were introduced into six elementary classrooms. While there were gains in communication for all participants, ranging from mild to significant, nine of the 12 students for whom we collected detailed data demonstrated statistically significant improvement in communication skills. Observations are made about the heightened levels of motivation, increased attention spans, and increased social interaction that students with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) exhibited when using these devices. Future research should explore the connection of touch-sensory inputs on the communication development of children with ASDs."
After discuss about the new education research, my lecturer asked us to choose the evaluation tools. There are three evaluation tools such as interview, questionairre and checklist. Me and my partner suggest to do a checklist and interview. The evaluation involve two teacher and two pupils. We hope we can get the positive response after the evaluation made. Thank you.

Assalamualaikum and good day,
Web 2.0 and tools for teaching and learning
Today, I learn about the tools that I can use for my teaching and learning. As today is a presentation day, we need to choose 5 choice of tools from 15 tools. I choose Pawtoon, Mybrainshark ( tools for presentation), Blendspace ( Class Lesson), Pinterest (Content curation) and Piktochart (Interactive Poster). But, I do realize there many tools that I can used for my teaching.
1. Pawtoon
http://www.powtoon.com/
2.Mybrainshark
http://www.brainshark.com/
3. Blendspace
https://www.blendspace.com/
4. Pinterest
https://www.pinterest.com/
5. Piktochart
http://piktochart.com/
But, tools is just the tool. Its didn't meaningful if teacher just prepare the teaching via tools only. The most important is the pedagogical part. Its is how teacher approach pupils using the Tools listed. For example, we can use blendspace for the class lesson. How ever, teacher need to understand the situation in school whether it suit or not. Teacher may choose other tools that suitable for the class.
Schoology
Many of is doesnt realize that shoology have a same concept of facebook. Facebook is allowed for aged 18 and above. It also need an email for registration which allow 13 year old and above to enter. As the school pupils is under 13, it difficult to access the website. The website also have been ban in school by YTL. Using schoology, pupils will experience the same with using facebook.
Please inform me if you wish to see the slide about 'Schoology'

Lecture Journal - 5 October 2015
Assalamualaikum and good day,
Today, we live in an internet era. This era is no borders and everybody connected. Everybody have power to talk free in every platform on web. In education, every school provide with a virtual learning environment called FROG. Even on the internet, teachers and pupils have a chance to used the apps for their teaching and learning. How every are they really used it? Are they know how to apply those apps in classroom? Are they know what is web 2.0?
Web 2.0
Today I learnt about web 2.0 technologies for teaching and learning. Web 2.0 basically is the social media that teachers and pupils can bound together everywhere. They can give respond each other about the topic in classroom. Gen Y pupils already expose to gadgets and the cutting edge technology. They learn something from all over the globe using internet. As a teacher, I need to do research on the best approach for these pupils and prepared the activities which involve the web 2.0.
Web 2.0
• Defined as the “Read-Write” Web – Provides all the services and applications to allow individuals to co-create content, collaborate and share it with others
• Supports user-generated content – Content created by users rather than specialist authors or publishing using a variety of affordable technologies like blogs, podcasts and wikis
• Encourages the social aspect of the web – Through the use of social media like blogs, wikis, social bookmarking tools and social networks
Type of Web 2.0
*Social networking - establishing and building online relationships with others, and a fundamental social activity
• File-sharing - creating, storing and/or sharing files in all formats: pictures, videos, presentations, documents, screencasts, etc
• Social bookmarking - storing and sharing links to web resources
• Communication tools - communicating in real time via instant messaging and chat, in web meetings, and in live broadcasts, or asynchronously via email
• Collaboration tools - working synchronously or asynchronously with other to co-create documents, presentations, mindmaps, etc
• Blogging - reading, commenting or writing blog posts
• Micro-blogging - sending, receiving and replying to short messages with others - for real-time communications
• Podcasting - creating or listening to audio (MP3) files
• RSS - Really Simple Syndication- subscribing to and reading blog and web news feeds
• Social and collaboration platforms - providing enterprise-wide, integrated suites of social media tools in one platform
Today I also learn about the tool for teaching and learning using web 2.0. Based on this website, there are 100 top tools use for teaching and learning.
http://c4lpt.co.uk/top100tools/
I search at the website and i discover there many tools that teacher can use for teaching and learning. Some of them need to registered, but most of them are free. The tools also have been categorize and teacher can choose for their lesson. To create the innovative learning environment, teacher need to prepare the plan which related with the seven principal of innovative learning. By using web 2.0, pupils will be more interested in learning and it will be meaningful to them.

Lecture Reflection - 28 September 2015
Assalamualaikum and good day,
Today I learn about the definition of learning theory and types of pedagogy theories. Learning theory is conceptual framework on how the information is absorbed, process and retain during learning by the learner. There are three pedagogy theories - behaviorism theory, cognitivism theory and constructivism theory.
1. Behaviourism
- Focus on behavioural changes
- Focus on a behavioural pattern being repeated until it become automatic
2. Cognitivism
- Based on the thought process behind the behavioural
- Changes in behaviour are observed, but only as an indicator to what is going on in the learner's head.
3. Constrctivism
- Based on the premise that we all construct our own perspective of the world, individual experience and schema.
- Focuses on preparing the learner to problem solve in ambiguous situations.
How do learner learn
1. Behaviourism
- Learning is a gradual strengthening of the learning relationship between cue and behaviour.
2. Cognitivism
- Changes in behaviour are carefully studied, but as a indicator to the learner knowledge
3. Constrctivism
- A link between cue and behaviour , but behaviour is in an indirect indicator of the state of a
person's knowledge structure.
Strategies for each theory
1. Behaviourism
- Drill & practise
- Tutorial
- Interactive simulation
- Educational games
2. Cognitivism & Constructivism
- Acronym, mnemonic, chuncking information
- Problem based learning
- Project based learning
- Cooperative/collaborative learning
- Situated/ scenario based learning
- Case based learning
- Inquiry based learning.

Lecture Reflection - 21 September 2015
Assalamualaikum and good evening,
Intro
As the class began at 4.30 pm, we were asked about our previous week lesson. The different between PLE and SLE. After a few minutes of lecture, we move on with our focus - the principles of the innovative learning. Dr. Jamaludin gave us a task on about the principle and we have to complete them in our e-learning forum. Once it done, we move on by discussion among our classmate. The discussion is about 7 principles of innovative learning. At the end of the class, Dr. Jamaludin explain about our first assignment.
Activities
For the PLE and SLE, there were an open discussion. For the principle of innovative learning, we need to refer the information on internet and we have to fill the answer in E-learning Forum. For the 7 Principles of innovative learning, we are divided in to group of alphabet and having discussion among us. Once it finish, we will back to a group of number to explain with our mates. This activity was under constructivism theory - cooperative - jigsaw.
Reflection
* What i learnt is there are 7 principles of innovative learning :-
- learner at the center
- Social nature of learning
- Emotion are integral with learner
- Recognize student differences
- Stretching all student
- Assessment for learning
- Building horizontal connection
* Learner at the center
- Student center activities which concentrate on development of cognitive and social. Its allow student to construct learning through engagement and active exploration.
* Social nature of learning
- Cooperative method work for all type of student. They push learner all abilities.
* Emotion are integral with learning
- Learning result from the dynamic interplay of emotion, motivation and cognition, and these are inextricably intertwined.
* Recognize student differences
- Learning environment need the adaptability to reflect these individual and patterned differences in ways that are sustainable both for the individual learner and for the work of the group as a whole.
* Stretching All Student
- Teacher need to be sensitive to every student differences. Student need to do homework and task but it is not to many. If student given many homework, they will be bored and they will not happy to learn.
* Assessment for Learning
- Student need to know what they learn on that day. Teacher need to full fill today's objective as they plan. If the objective is far away from actual objective, student will be bored and less motivated.
* Building Horizontal Connection
- Student need to apply what they learn from formal learning environment to the wider environment.
* All these principles are important to create a new innovative learning environment. If teacher can follow those principles, the environment of learning will be more interesting and happy.
