Assalamualaikum and good day,
Today I learn about the definition of learning theory and types of pedagogy theories. Learning theory is conceptual framework on how the information is absorbed, process and retain during learning by the learner. There are three pedagogy theories - behaviorism theory, cognitivism theory and constructivism theory.
1. Behaviourism
- Focus on behavioural changes
- Focus on a behavioural pattern being repeated until it become automatic
2. Cognitivism
- Based on the thought process behind the behavioural
- Changes in behaviour are observed, but only as an indicator to what is going on in the learner's head.
3. Constrctivism
- Based on the premise that we all construct our own perspective of the world, individual experience and schema.
- Focuses on preparing the learner to problem solve in ambiguous situations.
How do learner learn
1. Behaviourism
- Learning is a gradual strengthening of the learning relationship between cue and behaviour.
2. Cognitivism
- Changes in behaviour are carefully studied, but as a indicator to the learner knowledge
3. Constrctivism
- A link between cue and behaviour , but behaviour is in an indirect indicator of the state of a
person's knowledge structure.
